I live in Macon so I'm there every year. Quite a popular tour of homes and gardens. Unfortunately, more and more of the gardens are the kind that a lot of money can buy. There's just a handful that were actually tended to with love and care by the homeowner.

I'm interested in going. I'd have to stay overnight, since I live in NE Georgia.

Do you have to buy tickets in advance? What is the price?

I went to a similar garden tour in Atlanta last year, and I also felt that while it was wonderful, there were too many 'professional gardens'. My favorite was a man who had 3 adjoining properties in an older neighborhood, Decatur, and had all sorts of interesting things going on. But all of the gardens did inspire me. I went away with this thought. Hostas, Hydrangeas, and Foxgloves!

There's 3 different tours that weekend. Garden, Historic houses, and candlelight home tour. The garden tour is $15-$20/person - can't remember the exact price and is Fri, Sat and Sun. Usually 9-12 gardens on the tour, so you can complete it in one day at your leisure. Tickets are available the day of the tour (don't worry, they don't sell out, only for the home tours since they're usually done in time slots). You can purchase tickets in advance online. The secret garden tour is $15 in advance or $20 the day of the event.

I thoroughly enjoyed last year's tour of gardens in the Vineville area. Seems like I got lots of ideas about creating small urban gardens which is what I have. This year the garden tour will be at Country Club Estates.
