Clematis! They are gorgeous and low maintenance. Just prune them once a year (or not at all, depending on the type). They won't work in full shade, but if you have light shade, or a couple of hours of sun, they will be very happy.

I second clematis. After years of not growing them because I thought they needed full sun, I now have four. If you want really easy care and if you have room for it to grow and grow, try sweet autumn clematis.

For full shade try Clematis Armandii or Evergreen Clematis.

Try the Japanese Hydrangea vine. I have a moonlight variety that gets about 1 hour of sun and does great, plus in our area, or mine location at least, it is green all year.

Confederate Jasmine is great.

Great! I have a couple of clementis vines I need to move... so I will try the new spot. I don't think the new location gets any sun in the summer though. So we will see... I think they are Rupert something... If they don't do well there, I'll find the other viness you all mentioned.

They are going to need more sun than that spot will give them if it doesn't get any summer sun. You're better off with the confederate jasmine - you'll be glad you did. Mine is blooming now, and I keep finding excuses to sit outside next to it. And it's evergreen. The Southern Book of Lists recommends ficus pumila and confederate jasmine for deep shade. I've never tried ficus - but you might look it up and see what you can find out.

Forget the ficus. I looked it up. It's a monster plant, destroys wood surfaces and isn't even pretty.
