I found the topic here on garden web. I would see a photo of what it would look like. Something came up in my garden, maybe because I composted a ginger root, years ago. It took years to bloom.

Yeah, this is one you don't grow for the flowers. Or the foliage, just the roots. Mine is just now starting to come up.

Help!! I have a ginger plant that I got for little bit of money. And it was huge. But I can't care for it right. It seems to be dying. How can I save it? I had it in the house in front of a window that gets some sun. And I water it. Now I have it on the front porch but it must not like that either. What is the secret to growing ginger? Thank You

Patty, any idea what kind it is? Some need more sun than others, some like more water. If the bulb/root is still firm and healthy looking you can cut off the dead foliage and it will probably put up new shoots.
