I have both this and the species. Full sun would be fine for it. Generally, I find that it leafs out fairly early so yours is not behaving normally. But if it's still alive then hopefully it will be fine eventually.

By the way, the plant name has been changed to Photinia pyrifolia (and I hate that!).

I, among many others, disregard the name change, that was published and accepted? in 1991.
The Basionym for Aronia arbutifolia is Mespilus arbutifolia L.(1753) and since that time it has been placed in Genera Pyrus & Sorbus, but always with the epithet; arbutifolia
On the other hand, Photinia pyrifolia has the Basionym of Crataegus pyrifolia and has been placed in Genera Halmia and Aronia, but always as pyrifolia.
Aronia arbutifolia is not listed as a Synonym of Photinia pyrifolia anywhere, except in the plants.USDA index (Kartesz, Duncan, et al.)
If you want to use Aronia arbutifolia, that is probably the more correct species name.

Photinia pyrifolia or not, I just made 2 zillion plant tags and I am not changing it. May go bonkers if I have to do even one more. I'm a rebel, going old school.

I'm just going to keep an eye on it as it's getting too late to move things. It does appear healthy, very much so. Been watching it today now that it's sunny and it is getting sun, sooooo...There is a row of forsythia here that I was considering changing out for the Ariona (or whatever) in fall so was hoping that it would do well. I wanted something that grows similar to forsythia but is native, berries.
