Pineapple Guava

I bought 2 of these last Spring. I have yet to see blooms. Are they slow growers or do they need something? They are about 4' high. Beautiful plants and healthy looking just no blooms.

I have had one about 3 years. No blooms. But mine is still in the original pot. I need to repot.
What size pot are your's in? Or are they in the ground?

They are in the ground. There are some at Callaway a bit larger than mine and they only have sparse blooms on them.

My brother and I have pineapple guava. His are in more full sun than mine therefore do better and bloom more. Plants need to reach a degree of maturity before they begin blooming and it may be sparse the first year. Mine are just now starting to bloom at the end of May. Besides being a nice evergreen shrub they have beautiful, edible flowers followed by some very good tasting fruit that can range from as big as a nickle to the size of a maypop. Our Parks Department has started planting them in most parks. Everyone should have one.

I have mine on the SW wall of our shed. Full sun. The plants are very healthy and putting on more new growth. I guess I just need to be more patient. Do you feed yours and if so what and when?
