First you need to identify them. Find out if they are hardy or tropical.
Go to Google and search for images.
If they are tropical you probally will have to dig them up.
It all depends on the variety.

BTW they may very well grow back for you.

If they are a Rose of Sharon/Althea type, you won't have to do anything. Now, SOME varieties of the Tropical Hibiscus will winter over. A hard freeze or frost will kill the upper parts, but it will put back out from the roots. I have one that has survived here on the coast for at least 14 winters. It gets winter-killed to the ground about every third year. It's close to the house and when we are expecting frost, I just throw a sheet over it.
