Tremacron aurantiaca seed germination
I managed to get one seed pod from a plant of Tremacron aurantiacum which I acquired last summer, and have planted the seeds as I normally do those of gesneriads. There's not much info on this genus, other than the fact that it's from a temperate area of China, so I'm not sure whether to give the seeds a chilling period in a cold frame (as I do for ramonda, conandron, and haberlea) or just leave them under lights until they germinate. My compromise has been to split them over two containers and treat one in each way. I'm not trusting my one plant in the open garden yet; it's spending the winter in a cold greenhouse (which stays just above freezing most nights). Any thoughts or suggestions?
