Where are your photos, Cath?

Back in the winter, when Garden Web was sold and it was announced that rights to anything posted belongs to I-Village to do as they wished, many members stopped posting photos. Some even left for other sites. Just what that policy means not being clear, the number of stunning photos dropped sharply and has not picked up again.

I compromise by showing less-than-perfect-photos that are not worth steal, er, using elsewhere.

Nell, I love that composition of plants with the rocks. Very nice.

I mainly post my photographs on the cottage garden forum. I haven't taken many pictures this year, things are just filling in. I rely on a lot of re-seeding annuals, so before about now, there are normally just some roses or shrubs to look at. Doesn't do to much for ya in photographs.
Here is love-in-a-mist and a rainlily. I'm not sure which type of rainlily. It's huge and gorgeous and I wish it would multiply!!! I grow them from seed, so I get lots of different and unusual types from the cross polination.

This is the first corner you see as you come up to the house.

The annuals are blooming in the cottage garden area! These kick in before most of the perennials I have there.

buford your photos aren't showing for me. I haven't taken any pictures yet this year. I am always thinking I will take some pictures as soon as I do just one more thing, and then there is one more thing after that. I will get some soon.

Thanks for the compliment, GGG. I'm trying for a succesion of bloom. It sure looks different than early March.

This is a new garden area, started just last fall. The daffodils in front of the stone wall were folowed by corn poppies seeded in December which will be followed by crocosmia planted before the poppies. The area just behind the stones has Bath's Pink, which thrived and made huge clumps. There are new roses to the rear. This year there's porterweed for the butterflies and hummers, to fill in the spaces between the roses. A vitex is on south end. Other plants include: violas, kniphofia, bulbine, ice plant, daylilies, asiatic lily 'Oklahoma City'which is blooming and 'Grand Cru' lilies whose buds froze. Plains coreopsis, mexican hats, marigolds will fill in as the poppies leave, and alternanthera borders the front of the crocosmia. The alternanthera is still tiny but is growing. I kept rooted cuttings over the winter in my utility room and then rooted more cuttings from those leggy ones.

Fine tuning never stops, nor does deadheading 'soggy socks' off the daylilies.

Danielle I loved the pictures, but photobucket is asking for a password to view more. BTW if you think the Rose Campion is big now wait till you see how much is reseeds. I started out with a small cup full at a trade and now I have several large stands of it. In fact I may have given it to you at the trade.

So it reseeds huh? Hmm, I probably should have planted it somewhere else then lol. I love babies though so hopefully I can stay on top of em'. And you may have given me that campion -- I can't remember if I got it in a trade or during the free-for-all. Either way I love it. An AL gardener just gave me the white version. I neglected it for a couple of days though before getting it planted so it looks pretty iffy. I think they'll look great together though if it lives.

Rose Campion reseeds but isn't 'weedy' -- they'll turn up elsewhere and you'll enjoy the surprise combos you get.

Danielle that worked now, thanks. Very nice I especially love the blue Iris, they are very pretty. You definitely need the Rose Campion to reseed since it is a biannual. so after those pretty flowers fade the whole thing will turn yellow and die.

Nell those are some very pretty shots. I too love the butterfly shot. I haven't seen any butterflies lately and we had so many so early this year.

The butterflies will return, Kathy. They're starting to come back here, Tigers first. I don't know why there's that gap between the ones that come with the azaleas, and the flowers in June. The butterfly forum could probably tell us. I just know it happens. I'm not seeing Gulf Frits at all, but there are holes in the Passionflower leaves. There haven't been caterpillars on my parsley, either.

I probably really oughta research the plants I get at the swaps before sticking them in the ground lol. I didn't realize it was biennial. It's really too big for the spot I have it in and I was afraid I'd need to move it. At least now I'll just wait for the babies and put em' where I want them.

Yeah, that blue bearded Iris is my favorite. The photo on the package that came with it looked like a purple bi-color so the blue was a nice surprise. Maybe I'll have some to share next spring.

My goodness Reneyda! I thought I was looking through a gardening magazine. Your garden is amazing!! Soooo many roses. I hope that arbor in the last pic is sturdy enough to hold up that gorgeous white climber lol.

Thank you, Squirrellypete. You sure know how to make all the hard work worth it. We enjoy spending time in it... working it, smelling it or just sitting around enjoying it. There is more to the layout that did not make it into the pictures, but maybe another time.

Would someone please explain to me how to insert pictures into these messages. I have some beautiful pictures of my garden but I don't know how to insert them. Thanks so much.

janen, first you need to have your pictures loaded into a web hosting site (like Photobucket). Once they are loaded, that site will give you a URL for each picture. Either choose the one that starts with "img src" (just paste it into the message) or create your own img src tag. In GW, when you preview your message, you should be able to see the picture. If you don't, it didn't work.

Vroomp, that tiny little frog is too cute. Odd, I haven't seen many frogs in my garden this year. I'm jealous -- I love frogs lol. I'll gladly swap you some lizards; those guys are taking over.

Perhaps it is the pond and the pool that attracts them but, I seem to have lots of frogs in my yard. I have at least seven living in the pond that I have counted and several types of tree frog I see around the garden. I think the cats keep the lizard population in check here.
