Gloxinia sylvatica hardiness

I'm currently growing Gloxinia sylvatica as a greenhouse tropical. This is kind of a pain, because it fills a pot rapidly and then requires daily watering to prevent wilting. My options seem to be frequent repotting into larger pots and/or frequent division. Nice flowers, though.

Some postings here seem to suggest that G. sylvatica is reasonably hardy. I assume there is no way that it would continue growing through a zone 7 winter, but is it the sort of plant that might survive underground and sprout from its roots after a cold winter? Or is zone 7 just too cold.
