Loropetalums are pretty resilient. I would let them go a few more weeks to be sure but, water regularly with this heat and lack of rain. Almost killed one I have still in a pot from last year and it has recovered nicely. Even though it's still in the pot!

When we bought our house a few years ago, there was one planted near the back door. Always looked bad because my fluffy white dog would walk by and the Loro would reach out and grab her fur! So it was constantly covered with white dog hair.

So I dug it up, hacked it off and moved it to the far end of the yard. It looked pretty scraggly for quite some time (months), but finally settled in and is doing very well. It's in almost full shade, so it never blooms, but that's okay. I just like the color of the leaves anyway. :-)

I have one that I planted in fall that was fully exposed to the Easter Freeze. It looks pretty scraggly but I've left it alone and some new leaves are finally emerging this week.

Thanks for your input. I'll wait it out a few more weeks and hopefully I'll have some new foliage, too.
