I wanted to make some Native American gourd bowls using deer antlers for handles. I have seen these bowls at craft shows and really liked them. My brother gave me a few antlers and I have made one bowl and plan on making a few more. This one I just leather dyed the bowl inside and out then used bone beads, leather and feathers. I have others planned that I want to wood burn Native American scenes and/ or symbols on. My question: Is there a special way to attach the antler? I drilled holes and used leather to attached the antler to the one I made but wonder if there are any tricks that I don't know about. If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate your input.
