PVP means you can't legally propagate it and sell seed or plants; I don't know if you can propagate it and sell fruit legally from seed you've saved. But in any case, if it's really PVP, then the variety must be open-pollinated rather than hybrid. This info makes me wonder if the vendors who call it F1 have a lawsuit in their future.

It is a Rupp development. Most likely PVP. if properly isolated by bagging and hand pollination it should come true. (Pumpkins of this type are very promiscuos.) PVP protects the breeder for 18 years after which it becomes open market.

Ok, Thank you both for the info. I have not hand pollinated pumpkins before, but I have read a little about it. Do you need 2 plants to hand pollinate?
