What is this?

The catepillar pictured here is one of many munching on my cannas. Each rolls up a new leaf and tacks it in place with a bit of silk and eats away in the safety of its rolled up canna leaf. I unrolled this one to see who was in there. It's a little over one inch long. I don't begrudge the catepillars' eating my cannas but I'd at least like to know who these guys are? Some sort of moth or butterfly?

Might it be a Canna leafroller?? Looks like it to me. Google it and read about it for information on how to control, etc. Kathy

I unroll the leaf and feed to worms to the frogs in my pond. They sure do love them!

I had the same problem last year. I learned the hard way that I had to unroll the leaves and expose the worms to the birds. The good news is that the natural pecking order (hahaha) took care of things pretty quickly once they were exposed.

Funny, I haven't had them again this year.

sprinkle with dipel. Dipel is an organic dust which controls catepillars.
