NowâÂÂs the time to plant bare-root stock of these trees and bushes. Remove old mulch and fallen fruit. Either hot-compost or bury this waste as it will be contaminated with disease.

Bread making is great in the winter when you can use the heat of the oven. Sprout seeds for food. Make tea of some of the herbs you collected. Winter is a good time for soups, stews, etc. which is a great use for all those vegetables you grew. If you grew cabbage, you can make sauerkraut. Now is a good time to explore making yogurt. What about soft cheese. Or tortillas/
In early winter, my partner and I make up cooking ideas - more elaborate food items that we would normally go to a restaurant to eat. We both expand our cooking repertoire, save a lot of money from restaurants and eat like kings. What about honey? That's a long term project and research now for that or any other idea you come up with is a good use of winter time. Since you are growing so much food, I suggest you learn how to dehdrate it. Go all the way and build your own dehydrator.
And of course, for all of us avid gardeners, gardening does not stop at the first sign of frost. I continue to plan, source seed and plants, design the garden, etc. all winter.
