Grasshopper plague

I'm being over-run by hoppers in my garden beds and even in my containers on my deck 8 feet off the ground. This is more than I've seen in years (I'm in NW GA in the mountains).

They've been stripping the leaves bare - mainly of seedlings. They like the eggplants and beans but not the peppers, okra, lettuce, or tomatoes. I thought I could just ignore them since they weren't killing mature plants or bothering the fruit, and I didn't want to spray but they seem to be getting worse and are now eating tomatoes and eggplants.

Does anyone have any suggestions for non-toxic methods to get rid of them?
