I found that my photography improved when I let the camera do the work. I needed to choose the "macro" function when I wanted to do a close up and then press the shutter button halfway so that the camera focuses. Once it focuses, then press down to take the picture.

I like to use photobucket to store pictures that I'll use here. They make it very easy and even give you a premade link (called HTML code) to use here. Just click on it, it copies it, and paste it here:

My camera just happens to make very good outdoor shots. I take pictures when the light seems good. If my husband didn't download them to the computer for me I would be stuck there. But when he gets them on the computer then I can put them thru an editing program for cropping. I also use Photobucket but haven't tried their editing features yet. Like esh shared, I think Photobucket works great and it is easy to copy and paste them into the messages.

Susan - that is Penstemon, specifically P. smallii. I would be happy to give you some seedlings - I have oodles of them in my front bed and I pot them up to give away.

I forgot to mention that I just set my camera on automatic!! Brainless, except for checking on how the light looks on the plants.

Try taking your pictures before the sun is high(early morning and late afternon) and there are no shadows for true color representation.

While I really do not want to meet up I will put my two cents in, and give a website or two... some are for beginners and some are more technical. if you do not under stand some of the terms I suggest just keep reading, some people can explain some concepts well, while others will explain other concepts well. once you have gone thru these then you can just get out and shoot some pictures. Remember there is no issue with how many pictures you take (except for time looking at them) with digital, if you do not like it then delete it.
