Hastings is nice, although no bigger than pikes. There is a place up 85 north near barnsley gardens I think the pottery. I haven't been there, but I have heard from others that it is amazing. it's huge, apparently.
I have also heard that perennial grace inc nursery is great, it is in alpharetta on Birmingham hwy.

North of Roswell on Hwy 140 (which goes towards Canton) are Ladyslipper Nursery (perennials and annuals) and Buck Jones (shrubs and trees). Not far from there is Autumn Hill Nursery on Earney Road (annuals, perennials, shrubs, roses). Birmingham Hwy (out of Crabapple) has Perennial Grace, Buds and Blooms, and Scottsdale Farms. Many of these places have websites. They are really pretty close to each other.

The Pottery is 85 north in Commerce. Opposite direction from Barnsley Gardens. BG is near Adairsville and Calhoun. There used to be a place called Old Time Pottery near there but they do not have a nursery.
The best places for me are the internet.
The Pottery in Commerce is very large and has a lot of nice plants. A large collection of trees and shrubs. A fair amount of perennials and a few unusal plants.
Christmas time the greenhouses are full of Poinsettias and the common seasonal annuals at other times. Also a greenhouse just for houseplants.
A trillion pots and garden ornaments.
A beautiful place to visit all year long.

No Longer Bound off of 141 in Cumming is tucked away but has a great selection of annuals and perennials as well as herbs. They have good prices and I have never been treated nicer anywhere.

If you're out in the Lawrenceville area, I recommend Randy's Perennials on Hwy 29 and Gwinnett Drive. They've got some interesting natives and water garden plants.

Habersham on Manchester Street, off Cheshire Bridge Road is interesting and Pike's this year is better than it was, I think. Also, some branches of Pike's are better than others - the one out on Lawrenceville Hwy beyond Jimmy Carter really had some good stuff in the spring.

I second (or third) The Pottery in Commerce -- certainly worth the drive. Some Pike's are certainly better than others, and one of the best is the store on State Bridge Rd @141 in Alpharetta/Duluth.

i wholeheartedly endorse the Hwy 29 Pike's and Randy's nursery. also anybody headed to athens by 78 should stop in Monroe at Land Arts. They're just off the highway and they are fabulous. The plants are great and so is the shop - they have a lot of good books and tools too.

Urban Gardener on Boulevard near Memorial (in Atlanta) is an outstanding nursery as well.

We went to Scottsdale Farm, Perennial Grace Nursery and Chattahoochee Home & Garden today. The Blossom and Bloom Nursery right across from Perennial Grace was closed, otherwise we would have stopped there as well.

We saw a lot of beautiful plants at all three places. We bought a beautiful Jacob's Ladder at Scottsdale Farm, and a variegated Calla Lily and a Bergenia at Perennial Grace.

We'll have to make a trip to the Pottery in Commerce another weekend.

Scottsdale Farms had a few sales: buy one, get one free on citrus trees and some houseplants. I can't remember the other sales there, but they had a handwritten sign with all their sales close to the register. I think I have to go back to Scottsdale Farms next week. They had the brightest and biggest Heuchera "Lime Rickey", but I didn't get any.
I don't remember seeing any sales at Perennial Grace, but they gave me a new customer coupon ($10 off when you spend $25), so that's a pretty good deal the next time I go there.

I have not visited this daylily place (see web site below), but it's up near Calhoun off I-75. If you're headed up I-75, it might be worth a call to check it out. I used to love Marietta Nursery off Wade Green Road, but it bowed to the HD/Lowe competition. A nice selection of plants- no longer in business.
