Not sure but could be Ground Ivy, Glechoma hederacea.

I have a bit of it myself.... it looks similar.

That is definitely Ajuga. Not at all sure what that link is trying to illustrate but the photo it contained is NOT of glechoma but of ajuga as well. Glechoma has flat, violet shaped flowers, not spikes like the above.

Not sure of the specific type, as there are many dark leaved forms - Ajuga reptans 'Purple Brocade', 'Atropurpurea', 'Chocolate Chip', 'Black Scallop'. And even the species will have a dark bronzey purple cast to the foliage.
