I have 520 of them. I counted. They're small, but they look like boulders compared to the seed of Eragrostis spectabilis.

What you do with them depends on what you want to accomplish.

Sporbolus wrightii is a warm season grass, and it's seeds will start germinating when the soil/air temperature has been in the high 60's low 70's for a couple of weeks, as long as they are kept moist and get light.

They should be surface sown if you can keep the surface of the medium constantly moist. If not, sprinkle a very thin (1/32") covering of fine vermiculite over them.

The best way to start them is outside, in winter sowing-like containers. This is a clear water jug, or some such closed environment. Nursery pots with a baggie covering it works well too. Just be sure to provide holes for drainage and air movement. The container is necessary to protect the seeds from being washed out by rain, eaten by birds or blown away by the wind. Be sure to use quality soil-less potting medium, so it doesn't turn into adobe.

That's how to get them to germinate.

How many seeds to a container, you ask? This is where it depends.

If you want an instant clump of good size, 50 seeds to a 1-gallon water jug, or 8" diameter nursery pot wouldn't be too many. They likely won't all germinate, and if the resulting clump seems too big to plant out in one piece, you can always cut it into smaller pieces.

If you want to maximize the number of plants you end up with, sow individual seeds in a cell tray, and transplant each germination as a single plant.

I'll be doing some of each next month, for this grass and several others. Some will be sown in 200 cell trays, and others will be clump sown in 3" plant bands.
