I haven't tried them since they are marginal here and flowers similar to other iris I have. The neomarica or walking iris.

Yes, I'm trying to find them somewhere other than Plant Delights...somewhere closer to home. I think they would be fine in the garden here. My garden has not been anything less than zone 8B since I started gardening here, which is about 5 years ago. Yes, they look similar to the iris, but I understand they bloom later in the year.
Are walking iris hardy for you Cactusfreak? I have heard some "yes" and some "no's"?

GGG, I've never tried the walking iris, only because I've always "heard" they weren't hardy here. A friend of mine did try them and they didn't return for her the following year....

I went for a visit to Plant Delights last year. Beautiful healthy plants, but really on the expensive side....Most of what I purchased from them, I could have found much cheaper by searching around.

I did an ebay search and someone there is selling Cypella seeds. Might be an option to grow some from seed, then plant some outside and greenhouse some (just in case) and see what happens.

Yes, I've been to Plant Delights. It's their shipping that kills me, when I think of all the plants I could buy for that money! The price of their plants doesn't bother me. I know how much goes into the quality of their care, and even into the entire botanical garden on site. It's quite a sight to see, isn't it! Monster plants!!!
