I have a large shady linden with a lot of bare dirt underneath that needs to be covered. I'd love to put some common periwinkle under this tree as a groundcover, but I have no idea what a good price is!

One web site I looked at started at these prices:

Liners 1 to 3 branch $80.00 per thousand.

Liners 3 to 6 branch $110.00 per thousand.

Clumps 6 to 8 lead $20.00 per hundred

Clumps 8 to 10 lead $25.00 per hundred

What's the difference between a liner and a clump? How much should I order for a 500 square foot area?
