I planted several varieties of ornamental grasses last season and they did phenomenal - growing quite large and adding substantial new growth after planting. In late fall, after they had died off for the season, I trimmed them back to about 2-3 inches or so, and used a good bed of mulch around the root and cutbacks. This spring, so far, not a single one as sprouted. My gardens are virtually all perennials of numerous varieties and everything came back quite strong, as they have done year after year, but not the grasses. I was told that the grasses sprout later in the season, but even my calla lillies are up and running. Thoughts, anyone, as to what happened? thank you so much
