I have 3 that are in organic soil & full shade in the summer months. I'll admit they were neglected (not cut back or fertilized) this season because there were so many other things that needed attention. 2 years ago they were beautiful, full from the ground up. Now they are leggy & mostly leaf-less. Other than have a landscaper come in & replace them, which I don't think I can afford, is there anything I can do? They're in front of a part of the house I consider to be unattractive, & I hate the thought of it being exposed all winter, plus the plants already look terrible. I tried planting Coastal Leucothoe in front of them, but the arctic chill we had in May did 2 of them in. Any tips or ideas are gratefully appreciated.
