Try Kroger. They do give away some foods to charitable organizations once they are considered "no longer saleable". See if they will give you rotten veg.

Maybe if you offered to sign some sort of waiver stating that the spoiled produce was not for human or animal consumption? If they're worried about being sued over people or animals getting sick that should cover it. If you know a tame lawyer who could figure out all the weasel words that might be helpful too!

Thanks for your posts. Local Kroger has committed all to a hog farmer. What really steamed me was the guy who got ALL of Publix' produce, 7 days a week, and lied to the store manager, saying it was for the Buford Community Food Bank. Well, BCFB accepts no perishables other than breads.

might check with local farmer's market or co-op. perhaps they would not be bound by supermarket-type regulations for disposal.

I have some strange to me soil on the back of my property - kind of a sandy-gray, very dry. Extends the entire width of the property. Feel I must improve it before planting. I'd just get some wonderful soil but it's too hard to get it to this spot - slope near the house that I'm not strong enough to push a wheelbarrow up. Again, Oh well :(
