Hee hee! I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking about it. I've been swamped with a new baby, and a toddler who's revelling in the terrible two's. I need something to look forward to.

I think last year we met in October. That's usually a good time to plant. The Saturdays are Oct. 7, 14, 21, and 28. Did y'all like starting around 11/noon, with lunch directly after?

i think october 14 or 21 would be great. that would give me some time to prep beds for new babies, but not put me trying to plant and make halloween costumes at the same time.

do we need to move this to Exchange?

i am so looking forward to the fall. This heat is just too much at the moment. Managing to maintain the garden, but little else at present. Lots i want/need to move, but it will have to wait until it is much cooler! As far as the trade goes, i am looking forward to that too. If you are looking for a location, i offer my garden!

I second Barbara's garden - it's one of my favorite places.

We had a swap in my subdivision last year. Not many showed up. But I gave away a lot of hostas and daylillies and gained some yellow cannas. I waited too long to plant them so they haven't bloomed this year.

I've got tons of crazy daisys. I planted them by seed a few years ago and early this spring transplanted a bunch to the back yard. They grow like crazy (pun intended).

This is new to me. I want to know more about the trade. How can I find out more - location, how to participate, what to expect, trades made before or after, buy and sell too, seeds/plants/both, who plans, lists of wants/haves?

There are a lot of posts in the exchanges section of this forum that would let you have an idea of how they work. we usually do an Atlanta area trade in spring and and in fall. There are two basic ways to trade. The easiest is bring your extras and take home everyone elses, but the most fun way is to do prearranged trades. You can see how those work by reading some of the old threads I mentioned. They are a ton of fun.

I for one am dying to see Barb's yard so I am up for that location if others agree. Is that a local that works for people? My only request as far as the date is that it is not the last weekend of October or the first for that matter, although the first weekend is often still too hot anyway. But since the last weekend is Halloween weekend it would just be too crazy.

I would also like to snoop in Barbs garden. I'm dying to see the terracing (can I take photos???) as we need to do some of that too. I think October would be great. Stuff is possibly happening for us here in Oct. so I can not 100% commit to it, but I will give it the best try.
It is possible that our construction will finally get underway in October!!

I am up for anytime in October and I think Barb's garden sounds great. Barb, if you're agreeable, why don't you start the thread on the exchange page to get the ball rolling in full swing.

I'm going out now to see what I might have to trade and I may be bringing two new gardeners with me.

Hope it doesn't end up on the weekend I go to Florida. Promised the kids a trip to Disney in October so set a date quick so I can set a Disney date.
