actually, I'd say kill the ivy. creeper's invasive, but it's a native species, and does have some natural controls.

english ivy is a tyrant and a monster that strangles everything in its path, and gives nothing back to the environment.

Thanks so much for the advice; that's the way I was leaning, but since I don't know anything about the Virginia Creeper....thought I'd better check.

The creeper is deciduous- no leaves in winter. It does, however have really good fall color!

I have English Ivy growing on many trees in our Piney Woods property, and I just love it. It has been growing on these trees for almost 30 years, and none seem to suffer, nor died. I don't know what Virginia Creeper looks like, so I don't know what I'd choose, but I am probably one of very few that loves my English Ivy.

let them duke it out. although virginia creeper has great fall color and drops it's leaves, i would favor it.
