I planted creeping thyme between stepping stones from plants. I did not have any luck with seeds. I cleared all the grass and blocked it out of the area I wanted the thyme to grow. I didn't think thyme would be able to compete with grass. It definitely does well in full sun and very well drained soil. When it is in bloom, you'll love it, so will bees. Mine is in bloom right now. Gorgeous.

Thanks for the reply Pitimpinai. I guess maybe I could grow them in pots then plant outside? We have the vigorous crab grass growing and I agree I don't think thyme or anything else for that matter can compete with that. I have planted some creeping chenille so far, it was just a test to see what works. I would love to see a photo of your creeping thyme if you have one :-)

Sowing thyme in pots first would work. I am not terribly patient growing anything from seeds, but it would save a lot of money. I still don't know how to post photos on the forum yet. I'll figure it out someday. :-)
