I find it difficult to suppress weeds in an orchard because it's easy to damage the trunks of trees with weed trimmers. Here is a photo of weeds in my orchard-
and Symphytum grandiflorum, groundcover Comfrey, that suppresses weeds very well-

I can find the fallen fruit in the Symphytum and haven't had to trim it so far, though in sun it can get a little taller and may need some trimming. I know it would be a nightmare to remove. Does anyone have any other good weed-suppressing groundcovers for orchards?
