Looks like zone 8. Don't know anything about the other plants, but butterfly ginger should do well. I think they're hardy to zone 7, aren't they? A Savannah gardener can give you more information.

WannaBGardner, I life near Savannah, so he is in the same
zone I am in, 8B. He can grow all of the plants you mentioned, as well as anything else you grow. We are almost tropical here. If we lose anything, it is usually due to a late frost that nips young emerging new growth, which is why we don't remove heavy mulch until we know for sure we have had the last killing frost.

Thank you for the replies. I was a bit unsure as we gave him a huge potted walking iris last year, and it froze. However it did come back from the root/bulb.

I am in Savannah and I leave my walking iris out every year. I gave some to my son who lives in Louisville, KY and he forgot to bring it in this past winter. They had a couple of snows and hard freezes and we thought it was a goner for sure. It came back from the base so I think it is a fairly hardy plant. All the things you mentioned grow in ground here for me.

A walking Iris is also called a poor mans orchid. They grow some what like a spider plant and the blooms hang down on long leaf like stems, and look a lot like an orchid. Mine are white with blue and brown spotted centers. New plants form from the spent bloom and will root into the soil. The long stem allows the new plant to take root quite a way from the mother plant thus the name, "Walking" Iris.
