I planted this a few years ago, I think it was purchased at a local Pike's nursery. It made an appearance the following year but was so weak and puny I just pulled it out. Of course, YMMV, but I peg it as one of those plants that will survive, but not thrive unless some careful attention is paid to siting it.

Variegated liriope would give you a similar look and it is hardy.
