Leaf Chomping Creatures

Hello all  I have these little light green caterpillars (or worms) completely devouring the leaves on my Lord Baltimore Hibiscus, leaving only the veins of the leafs. I first saw the damage at the time the Japanese Beetles invaded, and assumed the damage was done by them. But now the Japanese Beetles are gone and the damage was still being done on the newly growing leaves. Upon closer inspection I noticed these little green caterpillars about one inch long and very thin. I tried to take a picture to share but they are too little. I sprayed with Sevin and I think they are all gone now. I was just wondering if anyone had an idea of what they are and how I can prevent them attacking in the future.
