During the 2004 hurricanes we lost several trees, just like so many people did. One of the most common discussions on the forum in those days was 'what trees should I plant?'. Ricky and someone else (can't recall who... Katkin maybe?) suggested a Tipuana Tipu tree which I looked up simply because I liked the name. I loved it and planted one in 2005. By 2006 it was the goofiest most gangly unbalanced tree I had ever seen! I asked how to prune it and Ricky told me to be patient and leave it alone. Good advice! Just look at how beautiful it has become! The ground under this tree is covered with fallen blossoms. A neighbor told me it reminds her of Hawaii because every morning she drives through a drift of yellow flowers!
