So I've been eyeing a low-hanging branch on my August Beauty gardenia, dreaming that it would root all on its own. Yesterday I couldn't wait any more and I lifted it. Lo and behold, a root! Just a little nubby one, but definitely a nice healthy little root.

So- what do I do now? I buried it under a thin layer of dirt and watered it. Should I cut it off now, or wait? Should I coat it in rooting hormone to help it along? Someone help me- I really want this little plant!
