Alocasia portadora is a very large, hardy (Zone 7) one and grows to a height of 6-8 ft., with huge leaves and very thick stems.
You can usually find those at Growers Outlet in Loganville.
They are closed for the summer, but will reopen on August 27, for the fall season.
Their availability list indicates they will have them for sale.

check out alocasia robusta at the link below! never seen things with such large leaves. it is not root hardy outdoors for you but sure would be a conversation piece in the summer garden!
if you click the category here for "giant elephant ear plants", the list contains many zone 7 hardy ones. i like the beautiful white and green variegated forms.

Be careful where you plant them. They can get enormous! I live in Marietta. I planted some 5-6 years ago to cover the back of my border along the back wall of my house. Not only did they come back every year, they got so big they were shading the entire border. They were a little intimidating! I had to move them to the back edge of my property. It is shadier there so they are behaving much better. They aren't so scary from far away. Mine have never had a bloom, though I hear some varieties do.

Jeff al - thanks!!!! And mariap, I am in Marietta too and enormous is what I am looking for! Jurassic Park Elephant Ears! So cool! I have always wanted to grow gunnera, but our climate isn't right. So gi-normous elephant ears are my substitute! ;)

I have elephant ears in my garden. The leaves are nearly two feet in width/lenght (depending how you look at it!) This year they have not been too tall as I moved them in the spring. If you'd like some, let me know, as I need to thin mine out. I'm in Sandy Springs
