Yes, yes and yes. I grow Purple Millet Pennisetum along with my sunflowers, corn, and barley. Grows fast, and if you can harvest the whole stalk and seed head for Halloween, iits a great deco with corn stalk and good old pumpkins

I grew purple millet this spring from seed I collected from a friends plant last year. I had heard that there was a 50/50 chance of getting purple colouring as opposed to green. However, I can report that every single seed germinated and every single one turned purple. Very easy to grow. It does take a while to turn purple however so don't dispair. When the grass was about 10-12 inches high, the rib and the edges of the leaves began to turn. The whole thing didn't turn completely purple until I got them out of the greenhouse and planted them outdooors in full sun.

Just how and when do I plant Purple Majesty from seed? I'm rather new to seed collecting.

I started my seed early inside then transplanted out after the last frost.

Can anyone tell me how to find the seed on the PM? Mine is starting to put tiny little green things on the outside the plume - which is purple. I'm guessing this is sort of the "flower"?? or is the little green thing the seed?

Please advise as I'm anxious to save seeds and plant them next year.

Super easy to grow from seed. I start my seed right on the surface of the soil after the last frost. Keep it wet/moist until it germinates. I bought seeds 4yrs ago and currently have 4th generation seeds just now starting. Let the seed heads go completely brown in the fall which is tough because the birds like them too.

Purple millet is an annual grass and starts easily from seed. The confusion may arise with regards to purple fountain grass, which is a cold sensitive perennial grass that doesn't set viable seed (assumed to be sterile). Two entirely different grasses.
