Btw, I usually do plant some pumpkin plants each yr and don't have too much luck w/ them anyway! Either we start getting too much rain and they rot on the vines or they get the powdery mildew! I'm going to grow them in my giant pot of soil that I have and see if that will make a difference w/ them getting the PM or not!

I grew some in a pot this year, two to a pot. But I think they should each get their own. They're growing, but have you ever seen pumpkin vine grow straight up? I have.

I kept them close to the house, so they're growing a little small and oddly, but no Squash Vine Borers!!

I planted a few pumpkin seeds in the garden yesterday, on 8/11. So we shall see! I am also going to pop some in the big tub I have filled w/ potting soil that I used last yr for peppers but this yr I will put 3 or 4 pumpkin seeds in it. I never see the squirrels mess w/ the big pot. Maybe they can't climb up the straight up plastic tub! lol!

Some of the seeds are aleady sprouting! I was just thinking that everything this yr seemed to be coming in so fast for folks that started them when they say you should. And whenever I've tried pumpkins and gourds in the past, they would come in too darned early for me. Our frost dates aren't til late Oct or early Nov., sometimes we do get an early snow before Halloween, though.

make sure you check them for SVB eggs!
