So far, the only Pennisetum I have blooming is 'Karley Rose.' Species and 'Moudry' will probably start pretty soon. Your 'Hameln' should bloom this month or next.

if the plant is healthy and of decent size, it should bloom by September, don't worry... don't get carried away with fertilizer

Mulch it well for winter as Hameln is only rated hardy to Z5.

My Hamlin's are just starting to show some plumes, although they haven't grown long enough to show outside the grass as yet. Be patient, you should get some plumes.

I planted 2 in late summer last year and they bloomed then, but I don't remember exactly when. They came back strong this year and started blooming a little over a week ago. I don't know if it's my imagination, but everything seems to be blooming early this year--must have been the 80 degree days back in February and April.
