worm or mildew problem with my pumpkin leaves???

Hi, I am new to gardening pumpkins and my pumpkin leaves are (now) quickly dying away!! Help! I thought at first I had a downy mildew problem--as soon as I noticed slight fuzziness under problem leaves and browning of leaves I started spraying the milk spray recipe. It seems to have worked since I can't really find any fuzziness under the leaves anymore now, however the leaves are still dying away starting from the base of the plant moving upward through the vine. This morning I discovered tiny green inchworm-types (almost 1cm in length)under the problem leaves--the more the leaves were dying, the more inchworms I could find (approx 4-5 worms max on a bad leaf). I have tried to do research to find out what they are and what to do--naturally if possible and have not been successful. Any ideas??
