I was once (as a child) walking past my maternal grandmother's fence counting the gourds that were growing there. She yelled at me to stop, telling me they would fall off if you pointed at them.

True or false? I've always wondered.

Seriously, does anyone have any experience growing gourds in Florida? What varieties might grow well here?
