What's terrible about clay?
If you're good to your clay soil, it will be good to you. What are you trying to plant?

Earthpac between Madison and Monticello sells bulk amendments/mulch. When part of our backyard was ravaged during an addition/adding new septic system we had a couple of dumptruck loads of mushroom compost brought in to build new planting areas. You would have to contract with a hauler to pick it up and deliver, don't know if you could pick it up yourself retail in a pickup.

Find a place that cuts trees and grinds stumps. They'll fill a pickup truck for $0-$20. Be sure to get hardwood, as this will decompose and make rich topsoil. Pine smells better but seems to not break down.

For future use, I have a regular tree man that I use. I ask him to bring me a couple of loads of chips a year. He dumps it on the back of my property and I just let it sit for about 6 month. Makes great mulch and the price is right....He love to dump here rather than driving all the way to the dump. Just a thought.
