I just checked my S.s. 'Blue Heaven' plants, and don't see any problems with them. They've all bloomed normally, and have gone to seed now.

Thanks Donn, if you run across any information on why a grass would have this problem, I would be interested. Nematodes? I don't know. Other than the blooms, that one bluestem looks healthy and like the others. Most of my other grass plants are fine, considering the drought and heat situation.

Karl Forester doesn't like this much heat. It went to sleep over a month ago, no green at all left with regular watering. Korean Feather grass did much better. All of the Australian grasses died from two months of 100+ heat even with watering. Miscanthus needs a lot of extra watering to look decent but made it though. Karley Rose held up like a trooper and tripled in size. The SW native and prairie grasses all did well on minimal watering. No surprise.

Your grasses must be huge with all the rain you have gotten there on the coast. Hope you didn't suffer too much damage with that hurricane. I was interested in hearing about it and how your plants fared.

I won't know the permanent damage from the hurricane until next year. Hundreds of plants got a short soaking in salt water, and many of them look damaged from it, but not truly dead. Fortunately, it was brief, and accompanied by lots of rain, so much of the salt would have been washed back into the canal. Plants I know to be salt tolerant suffered no damage at all.

That sounds hopeful. Living inland, I didn't think of the salt. Thanks for posting an update. I haven't read a single thing from other gardeners about the hurricane damage and had been wondering. I have read plenty about the drought.
