Ornamental Grass

Hard to find Pennisetums.

Does anyone have any insights on why Pennisetum incomptum and macrourum are so hard to find? They both look like attractive grasses, with very upright inflorescences, but they don't seem to be on very many availability lists. Greenlee lists them, but his online list is dated June '04. B&T World Seeds lists the seed. Darke calls them both extremely agressive rhizome spreaders, but I can't believe that's the only reason they're hard to find.

Does anyone have experience with them?

Hey donn, I haven't grown them, but I believe they're on many noxious weed lists. At least, I know that macrourum is. It's been quarantined in CA, so I don't think John Greenlee is growing them anymore. It's also on the Florida noxious weed list. I'm not sure about the incomptum. Neither of these grasses are native to any US areas. They probably are attractive grasses, but with so many great varieties available, I'd stay away from these.
