Summer squash tip

We live in Jackson Cty and for the past seven years, every spring planting of yellow crook neck squash has fallen to squash vie borers with virtually no plants living long enough to produce much of a harvest.
On a tip from a local feed store owner, I waited until Aug 15 to make a second planting and for the last 3 years we get really good production without any sign of SVB.
