HI, I don't need any but I am SO GLAD to read your post. I put some in this spring, my first time planting them. Well the EE's spread and got huges, still are, so I was wondering if I left them in if they'd come back as I sure hated to dig those things out now, the bottoms are huge too now..I moved some of them to another location back around mid summer, wasn't sure about the timing, but they didnt' seem to mind it. Question - do I need to cut them down now, or will they figure out themselves when it's time to fade quietly into the winter? They still look so good I hate to cut them down.

Just cut them when the frost nips the foliage, no need to cut them down while they still look good.

yeap just wait til they go all brown and you're cleaning up the other die-back stuff in the garden. no reason to do a special run through for them by any means. we haven't had a harsh enough winter in years for the EEs to die back, and in the full sun areas during hard winters they've survived anyway from warm dirt.
