They could be some of the "Knockout Roses" blooming everywhere recently.

Definitely not knockouts. These have more of an arching "old rose" sort of shape. thanks.

You could also go to the antique rose emporium website they are excellent rose growers, sellers and you can refine your search to white roses, arching whatever. I bet you can find it.

I listen to Felder almost every week -- he's great. I also have the Antique Rose Emporium catalogs going back a few years. The problem is that I have only seen these rose bushes from the car when they were in bloom. In January I stopped and knocked, but no one was home and of course there were no blooms then. :( If I go through again I will definitely stop and ask. I looked up the address on Google Earth and can see in the "streetview" function that most of them are white (a few are pink/mauve). I think they might be a hybrid musk of some kind, but cannot be sure.... ??? I am just hoping that someone else will have seen them as it is near a fairly major road (that's how I discovered them). I'm sure I could figure it out if I had a bloom to study, but alas, we go that way only 1-2 times a year. I will try again though. Thanks for your suggestion about ARE. I have studied the catalogs, but have not used their site to search. I'll let you know what I come up with. :)

Hey Ya'll, I'm new to gardening in MS. I live in the NOLA area but we just purchased a place in Tylertown and I will soon be putting in some garden beds there. Would love to know some does and don'ts for the area. As for the roses, why don't you leave a note with your return address or email address so the owner can give you the info you would like. Most gardeners are very friendly and love to share. Hope the cold weather didn't do to much damage to your garden.

My guess is that they are the old hybrid musk rose Prosperity. It grows almost exactly as you've described. Also, it is extremely fragrant.

Thank you jovy1097. I had considered Prosperity. I hope it is! I love what I have seen and heard about Prosperity. Seems right down my alley. :) I will try to plan my trips to TN so that I can see this rose in bloom. Maybe I will even get to speak to the owner about them. I love fragrant white roses. I even planted Multiflora rose for that heavenly fragrance. (I am also handy with pruners and a shovel if I live to regret it. ;) ) Thanks again.
