When to plant sedums?

We enjoyed our Autumn Joy this year and they did well. We would like to expand our sedum collection and have picked out several other varieties we would like to try. Is fall the planting good in North Georgia? Or should we wait until spring? What taller varieties have you had success with? Thanks for any input.

Planting Sedum now is fine. Main requirements are good fast drainage and usually full sun is best. Since I have heavy clay soil, mine are all planted in pots so I can amend soil to drain well, then they crawl out and over to surrounding soil. I can then lift pot and place elsewhere to start a new patch. This has worked well as they seem to adapt themselves fine if allowed to root on their own. Sorry, no tall Sedum, just groundcovers here, so I have no experience with tall varieties. josh

I just cannot kill Autumn Joy. I have planted it in several places and it has just taken off. Some of the areas are clay and some have been amended. Have planted in spring, summer and fall.
