I'm a pretty open minded dude. You don't need to try to pick fights. Like most people, I wasn't expecting a total water ban when I made plans for fall planting. I figured the rains would come back like they have always done when the cold fronts start marching through once a week. And it's not my drinking water. Especially with the ratio of treated sewage see-sawing in the other direction. :-)

For the most part, groundcover, you are "preaching to the choir" here.

Keep in mind that all new construction has low flow toilets now - you can't even buy the 6 gallon ones anymore so even people that replace toilets have to get low flow ones.

I love the water police - wish they were out there more, wish they would be more receptive to reported violations. As I said on another thread, someone from Sandy Springs said in the paper that they were not interested in neighbors turning violators in.

I get so worked up when I realize how many people don't know the gravity of the situation and I guess you all had the luck to be the ones I thought would listen.

Quirky please, I am not trying to pick any fights, I admire your postings (even on lawns:-)) You seem a witty, conciencious and learned person. I was refering to another thread, if you can't go for the "if its yellow..." I am sure you have found other ways to conserve. Perhaps, like me. you drag a hose inside to siphon your bath water to water a favorite tree.

I have been trying to cut back. I put solid bricks in all my toilet tanks. I only take showers, and turn the water off while soaping up. I never left the water running while brushing my teeth, even when water wasn't as scarce......who does that anyway?!

My 6 rain barrels are FULL to the brim, since I haven't had to water since last time it rained.
Right now what has me fuming are ruddy squirrels. They've killed almost everything I had sitting in pots (grown from seed) from the last two years. I've saved water all summer to get those plants thru the danged drought, and the squirrels are demolishing everything.
Lets hope we get enough rain to go under some of the tree canopy! Not so hard it will knock stressed trees over, but just enough so the ground gets a good soaking. Even better if the groundwater has a bit of a chance to catch up!
