    Yeah!!!!! About time.

Ya could have told me sooner (or, I should have checked the paper this morning)

Looking at the thermometer now, looks like it made it to 35 degrees here in southeast Cherokee county (prediction was 26). They are still predicting 23 for tonight though.

I had 34. I was expecting upper 20s. I did a lot of last minute plant moving in anticipation of a freeze. Perhaps it will happen tonight. I'm ready now, so bring it on!

    I never understood something:
    For example:
When they say that on Tuesday, the high will be 50 and the low will be 30, do they mean the low temperature of 30 is felt early Tuesday morning or do they mean late Tuesday night? Or do they mean it can be either one, it's just the low? Forgive me if that's a stupid question.

I'm out here at the West Cobb/Paulding line (just down the road from Lost Mountain Nursery if you know where that is) and I don't know what it got down to here last night but it got down to something LOW because all my elephant ears were curled up this morning and sad looking (and still are) as well as my Calla Lily leaves are turning a blackish/reddish/not-so-nice looking color! But my bargain $7 WalMart palm tree that I kept in the bucket all spring/summer until putting it in the ground a month back, it's standing tall and proud! So the one thing I 'thought' would get bit when we got a freeze isn't yet showing any signs, but the other things that through yesterday were all looking really good, they got bit bad! Figures, my MIL is coming to town this weekend to stay for the Holidays and I really wanted my yard to be looking good..hmm..maybe they heard us say MIL was coming and they are shrinking at the thought, ya think?!? :))

I believe the low temperature given is for the entire day, midnight to midnight, no matter when it hits.

oh wow, I said Calla lily in my last post and I meant Canna lily, for some odd reason I always get those 2 names mixed up, but anyhow, it's my canna lilies that the leaves turned on from the low temps last night.

No damage in my yard whatsoever, and I'd run out and cut down all but one of the darned brugs...the other is unscathed!

We got it up in Gainesville area, ....and I agree, about time!!

We all, the plants and humans, need a little rest! At least the plants will get it!!

I check forecasts on weather underground, and I presume that is from NOAA. The temperatures are for today and tonight, as late as 7AM tomorrow. So the low shown may not occur until tomorrow morning, usually at sunrise, when the temerature can dip 1-2+ degrees.
Low here this morning was 33* and no damage noticed to any plants, even after the sun shone on them all day. Forgot to protect my tomato plants, which have green fruit on them. Guess I will pick them and have "Fried Green Tomatoes" for awhile!
As a sidebar - The life of a gardener is never routine, no matter how hard you try! While out checking the garden this afternoon, found another abandoned car on the street in front of my house behind some shrubbry. You guessed it, stolen! 3rd one that I've found there this week, all stolen Hondas!
If you drive one, check your driveway and see if it's still there!

All my beautiful Angel Trumpets are now brown tipped and drooping although, the Hybiscus I decided to leave to die look great!
GoGreen, if that's a Sago palm,, give it a couple of more days and it will show some burn.

I'm surprised to hear that about sago palms because I see them every now and then that don't look newly planted and I know they are popular in TX where it gets cold too. Do they just show damge or do they kick the bucket?

The hostas took a hit. Everything else looks like it did a week ago. I don't think it made it to freezing here. Maybe tonight. My plants want to go to sleep for the winter.

Only one of my 40+ brugs got hit last night and is drooping terribly...I've just come in from hacking down the important one's...

I am SO not ready for tonight!

28 degrees here in Polk County this morning, a little colder than yesterday I think.

25 degrees here on the mountain in Warm Springs.

    Yeah...28 here in Loganville...

Well it's official, my EE's are gone as are all the last of the summer annuals that were hanging on. I'm one that can't seem to take out something that's still living and blooming, well, I don't have that problem now! Looks like I'll be plenty busy cleaning up.
