I got mine off of the members page, go to EDIT your prefences and there is a link to the USDA zones, I tried to copy it here for you, it didn't work for me.

I read the whiners thread and it made me laugh and appreciate the easy soil we have here in Florida.
Gardening will be quite a challenge in Georgia/

From the sounds of things, by this time next year, there isn't going to be anyone left down in the sunshine state because you're all moving to GA.

That is a great possibility. Housing has skyrocketed here and home insurance is through the roof and gonna get worse. Some people can't afford to live here. And then some people are not interested in living through another Hurricane either. I got reason #1. I look forward to living in Georgia. I look forward to the real seasonal changes. I would love love love to talk in more detail about Georgia. There is no better research, than talking to people about their hometowns. Chamber of Commerce packets really dress things up. Is there a list that gives the USDA zone by zipcode. I would love to see that as I appear to be right on a dividing line.

That zone map by zip code was extremely usefull!!! Thanks for sharing that. It was exactly what I was looking for.

Now, to read up on gardening for zone 7 as apposed to zone 10.

Kirataffy, not sure where you got that LaGrange is zone 7. Im pretty sure that area is a solid zone 8a. I dont know about the soil in that part of the state, but when I lived in Augusta Georgia...it was VERY sandy. In fact, at the old house I lived at you could put your finger all the way down into the soil. Here, in Upstate SC it is Clay...probably same as La Grange.

Well, that would be because I typed in the wrong zip code. ( smacking myself in the head ) I am glad you caught that!!! :)

La Grange is close to the AL border. So I don't think your soil is going to be sandy, I think best case scenario it would be hard rocky clay... Worst case scenario it's what they have in Alabama which is very tough to work in.
