Emerald Green Arborvitae Question?

Hello All!

Last week, I purchased 7 emerald green arborvitae trees. They were in 15 gallon buckets and are about 7 feet tall. We planted them along the back privacy fence to provide a future screen from the neighbors. We bought non-fertilized dark soil to mix with the native soil around the tree roots. A fews ago, I received some interesting information on watering. Due to water restrictions, we bought 7 two gallon buckets with covers. We drilled holes all around the side of the buckets that face the trees, and we placed them in a hole next to the trees. We covered the base of all the trees with pine straw, and we have to move the pine straw back a little to open the buckets to water the trees. We figured that this is a good way to water without losing the water to runoff. My question is: How often do we water them. Do we water once or twice a week?
